This quilt is a large queen. The 24 rectangular blocks of half-square triangles were pieced by the owner’s grandmother and vary signicantly in size. Because of this, an allover pattern was chosen for these pieced areas. This swirl and feather pattern can be seen in my listing of all-over quilting designs. The white sashings are stitched with a straight, traditional feathering. The border half-square triangle blocks have feathered flowers in the white, and a swirl in the yellow. This swirly pattern is repeated in the larger yellow triangles that flank the rectangular blocks. Note that the triangles of the border are ditch stitch also to assist them in laying flat. The batting is a Hobbs 80/20, and threads are all Superior SoFine. Double click on any image for a larger look.
