75″x75″

This quilt was made by me from Northcott Stonehenge fabrics – pieced in the late 2010 and quilted in early 2011.  It designed to mimic an Italian inlaid stone floor.  It is custom quilted with a variety of motifs, many of which were done with straight and curved rulers.   The quilting encompassed about 80 hours of time.   I tried to select or create designs that come from Italian architecture (arches, clovers, etc).   The outer border is striped with 1/4″ spaced striping, and there are sections of intricate feathering throughout the quilt, including the center medallion.  I used Superior SoFine threads in a variety of matching colors.  This quilt has a layer of Hobbs cotton/poly batting and a layer of Hobbs Tuscany wool on top of that.  Double batting is a common practice for quilts that are to hang in shows.  It helps to enhance the features of the quilting.  Double click on any image for a better look.  To date this quilt has received 7 ribbons, including a Best of Show at the Maine Quilt Show 2011.  Refer to the list of quilt awards for all the other shows it has attended.
