{"id":1459,"date":"2012-08-04T06:30:11","date_gmt":"2012-08-04T11:30:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mainelyquiltsoflove.com\/main\/?page_id=1459"},"modified":"2020-10-06T14:41:43","modified_gmt":"2020-10-06T19:41:43","slug":"rainbow-nouveau","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.mainelyquiltsoflove.com\/main\/my-quilts\/rainbow-nouveau\/","title":{"rendered":"Rainbow Nouveau"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>78&#8243;x78&#8243;<\/p>\n<p>This quilt is made from commercial batiks and hand-dyes. \u00a0It is an original design, utilizing traditional feathered star blocks and whimsically designed applique. \u00a0The quilting utilizes a number of creative fills including pebbling, feathering, parallel lines, curved cross-hatching, and others. \u00a0It combines structured feather forms with more free-form background fillers. \u00a0The quilted vine-work placed in the gray setting triangles has been outline painted with a gold acrylic paint. \u00a0 Some of the photos were taken prior to painting. \u00a0The quilt has a piped binding that varies in color every 6-8&#8243;. \u00a0I used one layer of Hobbs polydown batting with a layer of Tuscany wool on the top of that. \u00a0The thread used on topside is predominantly Filtec&#8217;s Glide 40wt polyester. \u00a0The bobbin is Superior Bottomline. \u00a0 The quilting is dense, and took approximately 125 hours. \u00a0Within a month of completing, this quilt has taken two Best of Show awards.
