Made from fabrics I had in my stash, primarily larger scale prints. This is an original design that utilizes the traditional broken or carpenter’s star. The setting blocks are my own design. They create the blooming effect. The tan solid border was covered with whimsical appliqued vines, flowers and leaves. The quilting is fun and attempts to bring texture to the heavily printed fabrics. I used many colors of Wonderfil’s Invisifil thread, as well as a little YLI silk for dense filler areas. There are feathers, curved-crosshatching (with alternately filled squares), and creatively filled areas. The butterflies were added to create just a little bit of whimsy and the quilting to the butterflies helps to break up the background a little. The quilt is also adorned with about 2000 crystals.
This quilt is featured on the July 2013 cover of Machine Quilting Unlimited magazine. It has also been in several other magazines including the American Quilter 2014.
As of the fall of 2015, this quilt is officially retired.
This quilt sold January 2022.
